The Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Alberto Bonisoli, has appointed Sebastian F. Schwarz to be the Chief Administrator of the Teatro Regio di Torino Foundation on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, following and in accordance with the proposal by the Foundation's Board of Directors.
The name of Sebastian F. Schwarz was chosen unanimously on July 19, 2019, through a comparative procedure by the Council of Address composed of: Alberto Bellucci, Giuseppe Bergesio, Maria Luisa Coppa, Guido Guerzoni, Michela Malerba, and chaired by the Mayor of Turin Chiara Appendino.
Born in Germany in 1974, Sebastian F. Schwarz, who earned a degree in Musicology in Berlin and a degree in Theater Management at the University of Venice, is a professor at the Universities of Vienna and Salzburg. He was Deputy Artistic Director and Casting Manager of the Theater an der Wien from 2008 to 2016, Artistic Director of the Vienna Chamber Opera from 2012 to 2016, and General Director and Artistic Director of the Glyndebourne Opera Festival from 2015 to 2017.
