Andrea Battistoni

Music Director Andrea Battistoni unveils works by two key figures of the early 20th-century Italian scene, now unjustly forgotten, Giuseppe Martucci and Lodovico Rocca. From the former, he conducts Notturno, an intimate and twilight-like piece, performed for the first time ever at the Regio and particularly beloved by Toscanini; from the Turin-born Rocca, he presents the Momento sinfonico from the opera Monte Ivnòr, which condenses the dark tragedy of a drama set during World War I. Completing the program is Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony, an impressive musical fresco that opens with the murmur of spring and closes in profound, heartfelt longing.
