Contemporary Art meets Opera
September 16 – November 12, 2021
As part of the Art Site Fest program, the Turin State Archives hosts the story of the long relationship that Teatro Regio has had with contemporary art. Paladino, Burri, Botto & Bruno, Livermore, Fura del Baus, Hockney, and Poda are some of the artists, directors, and set designers who have interpreted Opera with the language of current art. Images, costumes, and documents are on display, for an evocative itinerary offered to visitors to the State Archives.

The Teatro Regio has contributed with the exhibition of some costumes that evoke the elegance of the Belle Époque, alongside the original projects by Giulio Casanova for the Caffè Baratti & Milano and for the Royal Train.

Teatro Regio at the Royal Palace
Thanks to the work of its scenographers, Teatro Regio has entered the Royal Palace and curates exhibitions in two of its most fascinating rooms, commissioned by King Carlo Alberto: the dining room and the ballroom, masterpieces by the architect Palagio Palagi.

Egyptian Museum
March 17 Marzo – June 5, 2022
Aida, daughter of two worlds
This exhibition traces the genesis of Verdi's work by exploring the historical and social context of an Egypt still linked to the Ottoman Empire but already striving for independence and a modernist path. An unprecedented approach was developed with a scientific project created by the Egyptian Museum in collaboration with the Ricordi Archive and the National Institute of Verdian Studies: images, documents and finds reveal a new perspective of understanding and listening to Aida.
